What's Osanbashi

Boasting a history of more than 130 years as the "gateway to the sea" since the opening of the Port of Yokohama, Osanbashi has long been a symbol of the port in leading Japan's trade and transportation. The terminal has undergone six expansions and renovations with the current terminal completed in 2002, making it the seventh generation.

The exterior features a streamlined shape reminiscent of waves and ships while the interior is a huge indoor space with no pillars or beams, forming a novel and unique architectural design that was selected from the best entries in the largest international design competition held in Japan at the time.

Currently, it is one of the leading cruise ship terminals in Japan, with cruise ships from all over the world calling at the port. With large domestic and foreign cruise ships frequently docking here, the rooftop, which is open 24 hours a day, allows visitors to get a close-up look at the powerful luxury liners, giving them an "extraordinary experience and excitement" that normally does not happen.
